12th Jorvik MG & Classic Car Run 17th May 2009
The weather forecast was right for once! Nevertheless ‘a bright start with heavy showers in the middle of the day’ didn’t deter 137 cars from setting off from Castle Howard on the 12th Jorvik Run. The field comprised a varied cross section of ‘Classic Cars’, they ranged from a 1933 MG J2 through the TD, TF, MGA, MGB and RV8 to the other marques including AC, Jaguar XKs, Austin Healey 3000, and many others too numerous to list!
The route, totalling 105 miles, took us in an anti-clockwise circuit across the Wolds via the outskirts of Beverley and back to Castle Howard through some of Yorkshire’s finest scenery. There was only one breakdown throughout and even then honour was restored by the car being towed in, by one of the entrants, to complete the route.
The overall prize went to Chas and Chris Laudrum with their 1954 TF and the prize for the furthest travelled, from East Sussex, went to John and Annette White.
The prize for the oldest car was awarded to Victor Weeks and his 1933 J2.
