Evening Run 24th July 2009
Ten cars met at the Duke of York on Friday evening for the Evening Run organised by our Chairman Pete Head. The hostile weather earlier that day had split the group 50/50, hoods up/down, in other words those with spirit and those ‘I’ve just had my hair done’. Navigators are a funny breed, some of them requiring a fortifying beverage before even leaving the car park!

The route of some 33 miles headed north east via Buttercrambe and Westow towards North Grimston. We then turned south towards Garrowby Hill and the A166 but leaving the ‘A’ road after a few hundred yards on the back lanes to Full Sutton. A short run into Stamford Bridge, and then on to the Duke of York, completed the outing. Thanks to Pete for organising this enjoyable event although he declined to take part trying to hide behind a pint of Timothy Taylor! In fairness, he did act as official photographer.

The evening wasn’t over yet. Thanks must also go to our host Dee who had laid on a BBQ for us providing mouth-watering sausages, pork and beef steaks plus delicious beef burgers, rolls and salads. It was a fitting finale to a good night out.
