Before the off

A dry and bright, but chilly, evening saw fourteen members and cars gather at the Duke of York for an evening run of just under forty miles.

Dave Knight’s run took us out through Sand Hutton, east of the Derwent to Langton and towards North Grimston. We then headed south-east along the lovely and typical ‘B’ roads across the Wolds which are so reminiscent of driving conditions in the 60’s!

The narrow lanes back across Thixendale provided the odd interesting moment with motorcyclists heading in the opposite direction. Nothing that the re-adjustment of the MG’s wing mirror and a change of underclothes for the cyclist didn’t cure.

However, we all arrived back safely at the pub with no breakdowns and only the rare deviation from the planned route.
The evening culminated in a fine fish and chip supper at the Duke of York.

Our thanks go to Dave and the staff at the D of Y for providing such an enjoyable evening.
