THE 3rd LUCY CUP RUN - 2010
12th September 2010
Preparing for the off!
Eleven cars met in the Duke of York car park for the annual Lucy Cup run to Hayburn Wyke for Sunday lunch. It was a beautiful sunny morning and ‘hoods down’ was the order of the day as we set off via Buttercrambe.
The route took us up the ‘back’ road to Norton and then on to the A64 before turning North past Knapton granary. There were no problems getting through Thornton le Dale before heading North again towards Goathland, Egton Bridge, Grosmont and Sleights, these sections giving us some testing hills.
The final run to the pub led us via Blue Bank to Littlebeck and then on to Hayburn Wyke where we enjoyed a well deserved drink.
The judging for the Lucy Cup took place before lunch as the present incumbent (Mike Luscombe) had to leave smartly for another engagement. The (worthy) winner turned out to be, for the second year running,………………… Mike Luscombe, who then had the difficult task of presenting himself with the Lucy Cup and the attendant bottle of wine!
Mike managed that task and then generously presented Mike Boddy with wine in recognition of his efforts and success in organising the Lucy Cup run. We all support those sentiments – thanks Mike.

Thank you Mike! |
We all had a good lunch before making our own way home, dodging the odd rain shower on the way. Another super day out.
