North Kilvington lunchtime run - 14 June 2009

A beautiful summer day saw 10 cars including a Healey 3000 and Triumph GT6 enjoy a marvellous scenic run through The Hambleton Hills, passing the villages of Brandsby and Kilburn before negotiating the classic Sutton Bank route toward Cold Kirby and onward past Thirsk to the lunchtime rendezvous at The Old Oak Tree at North Kilvington.

In glorious sunshine our cars were made most welcome by the landlord and staff of the pub. A very enjoyable meal was had by all with a chance to chat and enjoy the weather in the beer garden afterwards.

carHappily, all cars passed the strenuous climb of Sutton Bank in the heat of the midday sun and following the ascent the route provided wonderful views across the Vale of York.
Mention should be made of Dave Norfolk’s Car which, following an incident with a white van, a narrow road and mud thrown up by no less than the President’s car, was awarded the worst presented car of the day award at the lunchtime stop!!
Despite his mud chucking antics, many thanks are in order to Tony for organising both the route and the lunch venue.
